I’m Ivana, the designer behind Petal Sewing Patterns. I have a true passion for designing and sewing bags, always exploring ways to make my bag sewing patterns both unique and functional. I’m grateful to have launched my small business, which allows me to express myself creatively.
I started sewing back in high school, initially modifying clothes to suit my personal style. Then, I started to sewing bags that complemented my wardrobe. This sparked my interest in the world of bag creation and sewing. I incorporate all the knowledge and ideas I’ve gained into my patterns, to create designs that are both unique and quality. I carefully develop each bag pattern, paying attention to details and refining until I achieve a final unique pattern with which I am satisfied. I am happy to have a team of testers behind my patterns who contribute to the quality of the patterns with their creative ideas and tips and tricks that are incorporated into each sewing pattern.

From Idea to bag sewing Pattern
Understanding the process from Concept to Pattern
Discover the process of bringing bag design to life, starting from a simple idea to designing a precise pattern. Follow the stages as I take you through sketching, using specialized design software, creating patterns, cutting fabric, assembling, testing, handcrafting details, and adding the final touches.
Sketching
The idea for the bag starts with a simple drawing or sketch on paper. Sketching helps visualize the design and provides a basic plan for the bag’s appearance.
Drawing in Specialized Software
The sketch is transferred to specialized design software to create a detailed digital drawing. This step allows for more precise dimensions and the addition of details before moving on to prototype creation.
Pattern Making and Fabric Cutting
Based on the digital drawing a pattern is created. According to the pattern the fabric is precisely cut.
Assembly and Testing
Fabric pieces are assembled according to the pattern. The bag is temporarily put together to test functionality and appearance. This step allows for identifying any issues or the need for adjustments.
Photographing Steps
Each step in the process is photographed.
Writing Text
Text is created to accompany the photos and explain each step in the process.
Testing by Testers
The bag prototype is given to testers for evaluation. Feedback from testers helps identify any issues or areas for improvement.
Finalization
Based on feedback, final adjustments and refinements are made to the bag. The goal is to achieve a perfect balance between functionality and aesthetics.

The final bag is photographed from multiple angles.
